Outside their country of origin, migrant and refugee communities organise themselves to face situations of great socio-economic and legal vulnerability. Born of and for migrants and refugees, they play a crucial role in facilitating their understanding of the host society and promoting their mutual support in mostly hostile contexts as well as in defending their rights. They are also protagonists of alternative experiences of solidarity economy, social and environmental justice and cultural interaction. Their trajectories and ways of intervening in society are many and varied, but they all have an undeniable legitimacy to act in favour of migrant and refugee communities and to speak on their behalf.
• Which challenges do these organisations face?
• What place is given to them in the range of actors involved in the field of migration?
• How can we build together a more fraternal and inclusive society with migrants and refugees?
During this webinar, representatives of organisations and networks and activists based in Africa (Mauritania), Latin America (Ecuador), and Europe (Spain and Italy) will share their experiences in accompanying and promoting the rights of people on the move.
English, Spanish, French and Italian interpretation will be provided.
